This checklist helps you confirm that the public discovery files are present and clean. It does not submit your site to Google or request indexing.
Use this checklist
- Open /sitemap.xml and confirm it loads.
- Open /robots.txt and confirm it loads.
- Confirm robots.txt does not block the whole site.
- Confirm robots.txt links to the sitemap.
- Make sure sitemap URLs are public visitor pages.
- Remove private reports, scripts, and config files from the sitemap.
- Use one consistent URL style.
- Check that new posts appear in the sitemap.
- Check that broken pages are not listed.
- Retest after publishing a content batch.
How to use it without overthinking
Open your live website and go through the list one item at a time. Mark anything that is missing, unclear, broken, or too vague. The goal is not perfection. The goal is to make the site easier to trust, easier to navigate, and easier to share before you spend time promoting it.
